Closing dilated capillaries

Vascular lesions that can be treated with light (Vasculight Elite):

- telangiectasias,
- haematoma stellatum,
- haemangioma senile,
- leg vanulectasias
- port wine stains,
- Poikiloderma of Civatte,
- lip venous lakes;

Genesis of dilated blood capillaries:

The problem may be caused by many different facts (in women, mostly, it is the effect of estrogen influence on the muscles of capillaries). First clinical symptom is skin redness, so called erythema. Initially, the redness is a transitory condition, but, and after some it becomes a permanent redness of the skin. In consequence, visible, permanent, enlarged blood vessels can be seen through the thin epidermis layer. These lesions are called telangiectasias.

Telangiectasias:

Permanently dilated capillaries, found near the surface of the skin or mucous membranes, which can be seen through the epidermis as spider veins. In extreme cases, the capillaries may be so closely located, that they give impression of uniform redness.

Depending of their appearance and location, the following telangiectasias are distinguished:

- linear - without connections between capillaries, usually located on the inner part of the upper thighs, above the knee joint,
- tree-shaped telangiectasia - typically located on the outer part of thighs,
- shaped like a spider web - forming rays from the central, widest blood vessel,
- nodular - single dilated blood vessels, irregularly dispersed;

External factors contributing to the formation of dilated blood vessels:

  • overexposure to sun,
  • excessive use of solarium,
  • wind,
  • exposure to frequent temperature changes (e.g. entering heated rooms during winter),
  • high humidity,
  • long-term use of topical steroids, especially on the face, neck and shoulders, in predisposed patients (thin epidermis, light complexion, children),
  • applying biostimulating lasers;

How to care for skin with capillary problems?

  • Skin protection against UV (sun, solarium, biostimulating lasers). Intensive protection against UVA and UVB rays (day face creams with high filters), and also with filter IR protecting against infrared rays,
  • Protection of the skin against frost, wind and humidity - using protective creams in the autumn and winter,
  • Avoiding overheating of the skin (resigning from hot baths and sauna),
  • Supplementation of vitamin deficiencies, mainly B2, PP, C,
  • Selection of suitable cosmetics / cosmeceuticals for the complexion with dilated capillaries, which help to contract blood vessels,
  • Treatments strengthening the blood vessel walls might also be helpful, see - rubo-derma.

Note!!! - inappropriate skin care and wrong cosmetics may intensify the symptoms of dilated capillaries

Removal of vascular lesions - mechanism of action

The thermal energy emitted by the device is absorbed by the red pigment of blood (hemoglobin), and, as a result, the blood coagulates and destroys the inside wall of the vessel. After some time, it is naturally removed by the organism. To close all broken capillaries, usually, it is recommended to take from one to three sessions, performed within a few months. It depends on the quantity of vessels, their diameter, colour and how deep they are located in the skin.

Alternative methods of treatment:
- electrocoagulation - coagulating tissues using current of high-frequency,
- sclerotherapy - injecting medicine into the vessels, which makes them shrink,
- cryotherapy - using nitrous oxide or liquid nitrogen;
