Dermal fillers - wrinkle removal

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acidHyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide, naturally occurring in human body, predominantly in the skin, in varied concentrations. One of its main functions is water binding and absorbing, thanks to which it sustains appropriate hydration of body tissues. The unique properties of the hyaluronic acid place it among the major components in the production of exclusive pharmaceuticals, such as the solutions with elastic properties used in eye surgery and as a supplement useful in the treatment of orthopaedic diseases.
Over time, the molecules of hyaluronic acid deplete. The treatment of injectable filling wrinkles replaces natural source of hyaluronic acid in order to restore satisfactory hydration of the skin tissues, which is destroyed by cutaneous depressions - the effect of natural facial expression.
Hyaluronic acid used to treat facial wrinkles and folds, is a synthetic formula, which significantly decreases the risk of allergic reactions. It provides great convenience for the patient, as it does not require allergy skin testing.

The procedure

An hour prior to the session, it is recommended to apply a generous amount of EMLA cream to the area you wish to treat. The cream contains anaesthetic. The hyaluronic acid fillers are in the form of crystal clear, extremely plastic and elastic gel, that flows easily and smoothly into skin, instantly filling up the facial lines, giving natural looking results. They are administered with very fine needles, which decreases any pain sensation. After injection of the dermal filler into a wrinkle line, the formula binds water and increases the volume of the treated area, smoothing wrinkles or modelling the lip contour. Usually, the procedure lasts up to 30 minutes. The effects are immediate. Following the treatment, patients may resume their regular daily activities as normal. Injectable fillers are used for elimination of nasolabial folds, wrinkles in the area around eyes, wrinkles between eyebrows, drooping lip corners and for modelling of facial oval.
The effects after the initial treatment may be extended by follow-up injections. Majority of patients decides about maintenance treatment after 6-12 months past the first session of wrinkle smoothing or correction of facial contours. Mouth augmentation procedure requires follow-up injections after about 6 months.

Hyaluronic injectable fillers work best for the following treatments:

- smoothing of the zone around lips and nose,
- contour and lip augmentation,
- reduction of crow's feet,
- reduction of smile line,
- cheek enhancement;

How long will the effects last:

The average period of effectiveness after a session with injectable fillers lasts 9-12 months. Sometimes, the time may be longer or shorter, depending on:
- patient's age,
- type of skin,
- lifestyle (smoking and exposure of skin to the sun and UV rays may shorten the duration),
- to product choice and the site of injection;

Advantages of treatment

The treatments with hyaluronic injectable fillers are highly effective and give immediate effects, however, these are not the treatments whose results will last forever. After 9-12 months, the products of hyaluronic acid gradually degrade into carbon dioxide and water and get entirely absorbed. The session should be then repeated, which, on one hand, can be seen a disadvantage, while, on the other, as an advantage, because due to the fact the treatments are completely safe. They guarantee, that after some time the effect will disappear and will not cause permanent change in appearance. The progress is therefore one hundred-percent reversible over time. A great value of injecting hyaluronic acid is the stimulation of the process of collagen synthesis in the dermis. And so, after complete dissolving of the acid, the effect of filling will be still maintained for some time time, as a result of increasing the volume of connective tissue.
